Lake Sevan, the crown jewel of Armenia's natural wonders, is the largest freshwater lake in the CIS countries. It is encircled by majestic mountain ranges and dense forests. The lake's waters are known for their chameleon-like ability to change color; they appear a clear turquoise on sunny days and turn a striking gray under cloudy skies. Sevanavank Monastery, perched on the Sevan Peninsula, is a testament to Armenia's rich heritage. Founded in 305 by Gregory the Illuminator, this ancient complex offers a glimpse into the country's spiritual and architectural history.
